...a white lace swan throw and lilac roses

...hello my dears

i must apologize for my infrequent posts

my desire for this blog
has always been to try and uplift you
and not to bring you
d
o
w
n

(ocean song roses)

i appreciate when you come by for a visit
and leave me your happy little sentiments

but i also feel it's important to be an authentically real girl too...
and let's face it
even in fairytales ~
crap happens!!

so here it is
in a nutshell:
things have not been going as we had hoped for our housing search
i will not bore you with the legistics of it all
but sum it up to only say ~
we have hit a snag
and we are on standby.

and quite honestly

i.  am.  depleated.

i don't know when
i don't know where
i don't know how

but i have taken a few steps back to ponder it all...
hence my absence

to keep my sanity,
as i pack it all up
~ AGAIN ~
i have been filling my spare moments with creative things

...baking
(can we say sand dollar cookies?)
creating...
(lots o' sea earrings!!)
and
~ praying ~

everyday elegance is what i have to offer you
they are but pieces of who i am.

struggling to remain graceful and full of hope
i created this throw blanket
with what has become my muse
and constant symbol of
"be still and know that I am"
or
"just keep swimming!"

quiet and graceful is she...

are you surprised that i made her out of lace?!?
LOL!!

i adored Rachel Ashwell's british flag throw blanket
i had seen in a photo at her b&b
and decided to make one that would make my heart stop
if i ever spied it a shop somewhere,
and throw up and die if i didn't leave without it!
hahahahhah!!

so i gathered up my pile of pretty laundry
and got to work

the background is a lovely, heavy linen throw made in holland
and the cross bands are from a vintage linen tablecloth
it is hard to see it,
but on all my cross bands
there are ethereal ruffles sewn on top, made out of tulle!!

it is exactly as i envisioned it
~ white on white ~

pure ~ clean ~ lovely!!

after it was all done
i didn't have the heart to use it as a throw
so it will become a wall hanging for now

yep,
no hot chocolate spills for this baby!!!

in conclusion,
i just want you all to know that i am grateful to have all of you
a collective group of supportive women,
who stop by every now and again
and leave me some sugar:)
and rest assured,
i'll be back with more pretties to share soon :)

..."seascape" away with me!

...can you feel it?
the seasons changing??

soon it will be time for a delicious bowl of soup

but

oh dear!
how shall we serve that delicious bowl of soup??

come for a moment and "seascape" with me!
((seascape=escape to the sea!))

imagine a seaside inspired table,
that any bowl of soup worth eating,
could appreciate being served on....

romantic candles, enchanting dishes in the shape of shells, memaids and sea horses

lots of iridescent sparkle ~
just like the sun looks on the beautiful sea
like water diamonds...

i love to wear beautiful crochet beach sandals when i visit the beach
i had a set i hadn't worn yet
so i wrapped them around my candles that i gave a brush of metallic champagne wash too.
i rather like how they look paired together!
who knew?!

i know this is hard to see clearly,
but no bubble glass would be complete
without a few extra large silver candy dragees floating in the bottom...

and

a mermaid matchbox to light those candles...

found shells, driftwood, and a mermaids lost gray pearl necklace
make a lovely table adornment

seahorse linen napkins, complete with lovely pearl shell napkin rings.

i found the seahorse download on etsy
and simply used iron on transfers to place them on my napkins...

and here i took a thrift store find ~
a sweet mermaid candle holder that was once brass
and spray painted it a champagne color

to which i then added a baking sea shell
attaching the two with "liquid nails" glue
 for a unique pedestal dish

for my table cloth
i used a most gorgeous skirt!

yep
you read that right!

one day thrifting
i spied this 100% silk beauty
and just knew right away how fabulous it would be as a "table skirt"

i laid an Ikea find, a bed coverlet,
over top,
then draped a capiz shell garland around the entire table for seaside whimsy

i made new chair slipcovers for my chairs
after i gave them a fresh coat of paint.
i chose linen because it wears like iron
this linen piece was made in Holland!!

i adore their flirty ruffles,
and most especially...

..their ballerina like leg ties!

and i ask you
what seaside table would be complete without a "bubbly" side table??

well,
life is to be celebrated!
so i say

~ CELEBRATE ~

a gorgeous little girls dress
can become the most enchanting "table skirt" too :)

lovely little details to delight your eye!!!

and one must have a seaside muse

no??

i don't think i need to tell you how i adore mermaids...

so naturally

she is this sea tables muse!

i made her crown out of real seaweed
that i painted a gray-blue and then a soft silver overwash...

i enjoy a little table side music
so my mer holds a harp...

"sea" her starfish bracelet??

(i know, that was bad!!)

i knew she would be spinning around,
so the back needed to be beautiful too...

i really like how her paper vellum tail looks like the capiz shells

i so enjoyed creating this sea side table!!

now ~
for the rest of the menu
to go alongside that delicious bowl of lobster bisque,

hhmmmm...

i'm thinking surf and turf!!

thanks for "seascaping" with me today!

...have you ever met a seaweed farmer??

...hello there ~

may i present to all you fabulous,
supportive readers,
my new friend: cecil

cecil,
these are all my dear readers...

* cecil says  "enchanting to meet you all!"

he is my new sea silk ribbon foreman!
he will be a great help!!

as harvesting all those luscious ribbons is quite time consuming
although sooo very worth it :)

i knew when i saw an ad in the daily sea times,
for a seaweed farmer looking for work.
(looks like us land creatures aren't the only ones just trying to earn an honest days wage!!)

anyhoo,
as i was sayin'

i saw his ad
and knew right away,
he was a perfect fit:)

so i contacted him with my proposal
and he was more than delighted for a career change!

* i adore his tiny crown

* i gave it to him as a welcome gift
with the promise that he may come and go freely to the beautiful sea

...just as long as he let's me come along!!

* he happily agreed

* he also changed the spelling of his name to * seacil *

* he figured now that he was working with silks, it just sounded a little more elegant!

* i think it sounds the same, but i humor him and tell him it's fabulous!!

he has been helping me create a few new pieces in the studio this week

pretties to wear to the sea...

but first,
seacil wanted to show you his new bed

it's a bed of sea silks of course!!

* i love that he is so easily entertained!

here is a lovely cuff braclet
that i shall wear on my birthday...

i found the silver Rumi focal piece at

i am charmed by what it reads...

i dyed some silk in a muted sea rose shade
and sewed freshwater pearls and sequins in the same shades...

they remind me of sand bubbles...

what do you think?

very often,
i find a really lovely item
that i can embellish a little further
so that it becomes my very own
and a one of a kind...

i actually dyed my cuff ribbons to match this jacket
because at the sea,
it is breezy
and find i almost always need a pretty little something to wear extra

love, Love, LOVE the scalloped collar
and the ruffled edge pockets...

i added this ruffle peplum to the back...

for that little something extra.

 i used a vintage slip

* it was just how i envisioned it!

* i also tried ironing this jacket

* and steaming it!!

* i even bought special ironing spray
IT * DID * NOT * WORK

* did i mention i ironed this??!

so,
i have come to accept the wrinkles...

 besides, i figure
if every one else is busy looking at my jacket wrinkles,
they probably won't notice mine!

* i have come to accept those too

* seacil says i don't have any!!

* ahhh, seasil, you already got the job!!
LOL!!

the rosettes with freshwater pearl centers
are like icing on the cake:)

i can't wait to wear my new pretties!

and seacil says
he'll show me a most tasty restaurant by the sea to wear it to after a day at the beach!

* thanks seacil!
i just know we are going to the best of friends!!
